About
Some people arrive in therapy knowing exactly what they would like to focus on. Others simply know that something needs to change. Wherever you are, you are welcome here.
I'm Maria (LLB, PGDip, SGfB, MBACP Reg) — an integrative, trauma-informed counsellor based in Geneva, working with adults of all ages in person and online, and with clients in the UK and internationally. My approach is depth-oriented and holistic, grounded in Psychosynthesis and shaped by warmth, acceptance and curiosity. There is no pressure to have the right words — we work at your pace, with compassion, care and curiosity.
I work with a wide range of difficulties: trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, shame, low self-worth, major life transitions, and significant health challenges, including cancer.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade in the financial sector in the City of London, which gives me a genuine understanding of the pressures that high-achieving, driven people may carry: burnout, career transitions, work-related stress, and the cost of always performing.
Having lived and worked across different countries myself, I understand the particular complexity of expat life - the adventures it opens up, and the quieter losses that don't always get named.
How I work:
My work integrates a range of approaches, grounded in developing awareness, self-acceptance, compassion and meaningful change.
Psychosynthesis; Parts Work — an in-depth exploration of who you are psychologically, physically, and spiritually, deepening self-awareness and supporting a more authentic, integrated way of living
Internal Family Systems (IFS) — working with the different parts of yourself: those that protect, those that carry pain, and the deeper self beneath them
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) — developing self-compassion and easing self-criticism
Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) — clarifying your values and supporting you to live in alignment with what truly matters
Somatic; Breath Work, Mindfulness, Gestalt, Guided Imagery — engaging the body, breath, and imagination to build awareness, support regulation, and enable change
